Soul Brew Coffee - 17/08/26 - 11:41
I seem to have most of my thoughts at a cafe. I guess it’s because that’s where I observe people the most. A really sweet looking older couple walked in today. They ordered some coffee and grabbed a window corner seat. They very comfortably sat in silence until their coffee arrived. Until the man went on his phone and kept scrolling through reels. His very sweet wife kept looking at him. Hoping he would pick up on the connection she is trying to seek and put his phone down. They sat like that for sometime whilst she looked outside the window and gave me some really warm smiles. He looked up from his phone, you should have seen the smile on her face. Like she wanted nothing more than to be noticed. It’s interesting to see that at their age, she seeks for the same thing I seek at this age. Is it a woman thing? I am not sure. I’d like to believe it’s the trait of the “romantic” one. After a few minutes of interaction, he went back to scrolling on his phone and she continued to find her peace in what was going on outside the window. I hope when my partner and i are that age, we are still able to have conversations we have now. I hope we never run out of things to talk about. And if at all we do, I hope both of us are comfortable in the silence. Not just one of us whilst the other desperately seeks for connection. So many ways to look at love.
